I am a textile artist and handweaver. Inspired by the shoreline of Canada's East Coast, my handwoven textiles echo the colours and patterns of the land, sea and sky. My weaving practice encompasses the design and creation of both functional textiles and handwoven art.
Since graduating from NSCAD University with a BFA in Textiles in 2004, my work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in PEI, NS, Alberta, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador. I have received numerous grants for the creation and exhibition of artwork, as well as operating a successful production weaving business since 2007 (Marshall Arts). In 2012, I was the recipient of the W.B. Bruce European Fine Art Travel Scholarship and traveled to Sweden to research hand-weaving traditions. I work in my home studio in a century-old renovated school house in Belfast, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
